Most liveaboard crusiers run on solar circumnavagating the world. From what I understand a couple of solar panels and a wind turbine runs the entire boat. It's a very popular way to be self sufficeint. (electronics, laptop, watermakers, lighting.) Althought some do have generators, many don't. Ask questions on these forums they have many helpfull and friendly people willing to help.
