Debb,
I love it. Now those are all great Christmas ideas for the cottage folks - or how about a great hostess gift for those visiting a cottage this holiday or next summer.

Cheers,

Cool, Julie! Not many people I know have played or even heard of Crokinole and Pit. They both bring great memories for me too.
When my parents sold their cottage, my hubby and I took up camping for a while. When the family visited us at the campground, we'd pull out the Pit game on rainy days. I still remember the small crowd of people who gathered by our site wondering what we were all hollering about. It's so contagious - you yell, you laugh and you yell some more!
The best Crokinole memories are from our French River cottage --- sore shooting finger and all!
Oh -- and Rummy Q [also known as Rummy Blok]. That's a great cottage game too!

Oh my gosh, you just named my two favourite childhood games. My grandma had a Crokinole board that came out every New Year's day, where we'd spend the next 7 hours eating junk food and playing our relatives.
Pit - I got for my 6th birthday - again from my grandma - loved it and played it to death.

Oh thanks for the memories and the link, Debb.

Cheers,
Julie

A staple at our place is a Crokinole board. If you haven't tried Crokinole - you really must! My parents had the game when I was a wee girl and the tradition has been passed down. We all have a game at our places! http://www.crokinole.com/

Next favourite game for a WHOOPING good time is Pit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pit_(game)
Way too much fun!
